BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer First Announced The Plan To Cut The Sample Size In June This Year, Citing Budget Constraints And Declining Response Rates That Made The Survey More Expensive And Difficult To Conduct. The Plan Will Reduce The Number Of Households By 5,000 From The Beginning Of 2025, To A Total Of 55,000. The BLS Received About $700 Million In Funding For The Fiscal Year That Just Ended In September. The Advocacy Group "Friends Of The BLS" And Former White House Economists Recently Urged Lawmakers To Increase Funding For Fiscal Year 2025 By About $20 Million, But The Current Proposals In The House And Senate Are Far From Meeting This Requirement.
