[White House Seeks to Renegotiate CHIPS Act Awards] The White House is reportedly seeking to renegotiate awards under the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act, which allocates $39 billion in subsidies to boost domestic semiconductor production. The review encompasses projects awarded under the Biden administration and may result in changes to contract terms, including requirements for unionized labor and affordable childcare. Taiwan's GlobalWafers, slated to receive $406 million, confirmed the review. Intel has already received $2.2 billion and TSMC $1.5 billion, with the White House also expressing concerns about companies expanding operations in China despite accepting subsidies.
