[Container Shipping Rates Decline To Lowest Since January 2024, But Still Above Pre-pandemic Levels] The Drewry World Container Index Reports A 7% Decrease To $2,368 Per 40-foot Container, The Lowest Since January 2024 And A 77% Drop From The September 2021 Peak Of $10,377. However, Current Rates Are Still 67% Higher Than The 2019 Pre-pandemic Average Of $1,420, With The Year-to-date Average At $3,205. Rates Decreased On Major Routes Like Shanghai To Genoa (-11% To $3,333), Shanghai To Los Angeles (-8% To $2,906), And Shanghai To New York (-7% To $4,038), While Rotterdam To Shanghai, New York To Rotterdam, And Rotterdam To New York All Increased By 1%. Drewry Anticipates A Continued Decline In Rates Due To Increased Container Shipping Capacity.
