Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the IT, Healthcare and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 1.15%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Parkland Fuel Corporation (TSX:PKI), which rose 5.73% or 2.00 points to trade at 36.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Badger Infrastructure Solutions Ltd (TSX:BDGI) added 5.47% or 2.13 points to end at 41.05 and Athabasca Oil Corp (TSX:ATH) was up 5.05% or 0.22 points to 4.58 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aecon Group Inc . (TSX:ARE), which fell 16.08% or 3.58 points to trade at 18.69 at the close. South Bow Corp (TSX:SOBO) declined 10.39% or 4.08 points to end at 35.18 and Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS) was down 10.39% or 13.54 points to 116.84.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 606 to 326 and 87 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.83% to 15.03.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.30% or 8.70 to $2,917.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $66.35 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.20 to trade at $69.50 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 0.70, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.38% to 0.65.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.20.
