Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.31%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.47%, and the NASDAQ Composite index lost 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE), which rose 2.94% or 2.19 points to trade at 76.58 at the close. Meanwhile, International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) added 1.32% or 2.97 points to end at 228.63 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) was up 0.94% or 1.05 points to 113.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA), which fell 4.03% or 5.20 points to trade at 123.70 at the close. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) declined 2.32% or 4.12 points to end at 173.66 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) was down 1.65% or 5.95 points to 354.00.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were F5 Networks Inc (NASDAQ:FFIV) which rose 11.40% to 300.46, Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) which was up 8.14% to settle at 108.58 and T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) which gained 6.34% to close at 235.15.
The worst performers were Packaging Corp of America (NYSE:PKG) which was down 9.77% to 215.12 in late trade, Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) which lost 9.73% to settle at 223.73 and Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:MRNA) which was down 9.39% to 40.72 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Diginex Inc (NASDAQ:DGNX) which rose 234.56% to 50.15, Silexion Therapeutics Corp (NASDAQ:SLXN) which was up 132.59% to settle at 3.14 and 36Kr Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:KRKR) which gained 122.17% to close at 9.42.
The worst performers were ZK International Group Co Ltd (NASDAQ:ZKIN) which was down 40.70% to 0.49 in late trade, MGO Global Inc (NASDAQ:MGOL) which lost 38.85% to settle at 0.10 and Eyenovia Inc (NASDAQ:EYEN) which was down 34.74% to 0.04 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1697 to 1069 and 97 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1873 fell and 1404 advanced, while 157 ended unchanged.
Shares in F5 Networks Inc (NASDAQ:FFIV) rose to all time highs; rising 11.40% or 30.74 to 300.46. Shares in Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.14% or 8.17 to 108.58. Shares in Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.73% or 24.11 to 223.73. Shares in Diginex Inc (NASDAQ:DGNX) rose to all time highs; rising 234.56% or 35.16 to 50.15. Shares in MGO Global Inc (NASDAQ:MGOL) fell to all time lows; down 38.85% or 0.06 to 0.10. Shares in Eyenovia Inc (NASDAQ:EYEN) fell to all time lows; losing 34.74% or 0.02 to 0.04.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 0.91% to 16.56.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.62 to $2,795.22 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.10% or 0.81 to hit $72.96 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.64 to trade at $75.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.04, while USD/JPY fell 0.20% to 155.29.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 107.83.
